Beach cleanup done right! Coastal Cleanup with Marine Conservation Philippines at Ducomi Pier, Negros Oriental, Philippines

This video shows how to do a beach cleanup that includes a trash audit that is submitted to Ocean Conservancy. As a volunteer in Marine Conservation Philippines, part of the program was to educate us on their methodology when it comes to coastal cleanups. We did our clean-up in Dauin, Negros Oriental, Philippines. This site was near Ducomi Pier where they get a lot of vehicle and foot traffic. It wasn't the usual pick-up trash and we're done. But rather we had to classify trash into different categories, note their quantity and weight, then log the data. This data is then sent to Ocean Conservancy and they use the data to create reports that scientists and policymakers can use to find solutions to the plastic problem. People from all over the world participate in this audit so we get a clearer picture of the ocean problem that we are facing today.
