On our last dive in Siquijor, we encountered so much plastic in our shore entry. This was taken in Sawang dive site. We immediately did an underwater clean-up and stuffed our BCD jacket with as much trash as we could find. But there was simply too much plastic in the ocean and we were forced to leave some behind. Siquijor has a no-plastic ordinance prohibiting secondary plastic use on goods and establishments are not allowed to use styrofoam and disposable containers. It's a step to raise awareness about plastic and locals are encouraged to bring their own bag and containers. But this ordinance does not stop the other single-use plastics from food packaging. In the Philippines, most brands use sachets which are basically small pocket-sized plastics. This allows people to buy in smaller quantities that they can afford rather than in bulk. You can see in this video how much of it ends up in our oceans. ?Siquijor Dive and Travel Guide ? https://bit.ly/3eEfS7M This was part of my 1-week travel adventure in Dumaguete and Siquijor: Part 1: Muck Diving in Dauin (https://youtu.be/r4Nt8gGpIgM) Part 2: Apo Island in Negros Oriental (https://youtu.be/2udm4FSwDWk) Part 3: Scuba Diving in Siquijor (https://youtu.be/raKZqqBdhP8) ?Travel Itinerary Here: https://bit.ly/33uM1JT ------------------------------------------------------------ ?Location: Siquijor Island Dive Shop: Pawikan Eco Dive Shop (Book here ➡️https://bit.ly/2PDePws)
