Romblon Island, located in the heart of the Philippines, is a paradise for divers and marine life enthusiasts. This pristine island offers an incredible array of dive sites that cater to all levels of expertise. The area’s diverse seascapes, which include coral reefs, seagrass meadows, and mangrove forests, offer a myriad of habitats for a breathtaking array of marine species.

In Romblon Island, divers can explore numerous vertical walls and colorful reefs teeming with a wide variety of sponges, corals, anemones, fish, sea slugs, snails, crabs, and many other reef inhabitants.

Accommodations

The Three P Beach Resort is a charming waterfront destination in Romblon, offering an array of amenities and services for a comfortable stay. Established in 2009, Three P Beach Resort is nestled seven kilometers south of Romblon Town in Barangay Lonos, providing a serene getaway from the hustle and bustle.

Free WiFi, provided via Starlink and local internet, is available in all rooms and community areas, allowing guests to stay connected during their stay.

For added security, the premises are monitored by a night guard and CCTV.

Additional conveniences include massage service, laundry service, and transfer service to town and nearby beaches.

Why did you choose Romblon?

Romblon is one of my favorite places to visit for macro diving. Not many people know about this dive destination in the Philippines and it is one of the reasons why I’ve decided to organize a trip here.

I’ve visited Romblon thrice now and each visit leaves me in awe. Romblon is where I’ve seen some of the most interesting and unique critters that I’ve never encountered before in my 10 years of diving in the Philippines. It is here that I’ve first seen critters like Cyerce nigra, Melibe colemani, Japanese Dragon Shrimp and many others.

Despite the challenges of getting to this island, I continue to come back because that’s how amazing it is. If you’re an underwater photographer and macro lover, Romblon is an absolute must!

Why did you choose Three P Dive Resort?

Ever since I discovered diving in Romblon in 2018, I have always chosen to dive with Three P. They are an established dive resort on the island and never disappoint. They have an excellent diving crew and resort staff. In my opinion, they also have some of the best spotters I’ve encountered in all my diving in the Philippines.

What dive certification level should I be at to join your trip?

Due to the nature of the dives, I recommend that you are an Advanced Open Water diver to join me on this trip. I’ve included 5 night dives for this trip.

If you are an Open Water Diver you are still welcome to join, but you will only be allowed to dive within the limits of your certification. You can also consider taking additional courses while on this trip

How many divers are on this trip?

I’m currently opening this trip to 7 divers, plus myself, so a total of 8. Depending on interest and room availability, I might extend the invitation to more people. Slots are limited so make sure to reserve as soon as possible!

Do I need to be an underwater photographer to join the trip?

No, you don’t need to be an underwater photographer to be part of this trip. However, I do recommend that you enjoy looking for macro critters. Most of the dive sites will focus on critter hunting for rare and tiny creatures like nudibranchs, shrimps, crabs, and cephalopods. While there might be some dive sites we can visit that are more “wide” the highlight of diving in Romblon are the macro critters that you rarely see elsewhere in the Philippines.

Isn’t it rainy season in July?

In case the weather is bad we can still go diving. Worst case scenario would be that we have to transfer guests by tricycle to another beach, where they can board the boat in a more sheltered area. But this happens very rarely. Even if it happens, you can still see all special animals including Melibes, butterflies etc.

The ferry will only get canceled if a storm or typhoon passes through. Then we can’t do anything. But also this happens very rarely.

Can we do a black water dive?

The black water dive is not part of the package but we can arrange for one for an additional Php400 per person. 3P requires 2 divers to join the blackwater dive for it to push through.

I prefer to fly can I just take an airplane and meet you there?

Yes, you can opt to fly in to Tablas airport in Romblon, but this will be at your expense and not covered by the dive package. If you choose to fly, you will still have to take a trike or van to another port, then take another ferry to Romblon Island. I have tried this route in the past and while it is faster, I found it more inconvenient considering all the transfers and the dive gear you might have with you.

I am a single traveler/ diver, can I still join the trip?

Absolutely! One of the reasons why I organized this trip is for divers who want to dive in the Philippines but don’t have anybody to go with. I know how it feels to go to a strange new place alone, that’s why I’m here to help.
If you’re a solo traveler, I’ll room you with another solo traveler of the same gender. You can also pay extra to get your own room, but this is subject to availability.
Joining my trip would be a great way to connect with other divers. Hopefully, by the end of this trip, you’ll have more friends to dive with in the future!

Will you be guiding the dives?

Local dive guides who know the area well will be leading the dives. We will be split up into different dive groups according to certification and experience. There will be a maximum of 4 divers to 1 dive guide in each group.

Can I rent dive gear?

Yes, it is possible to rent gear however, sizing might be limited. Please provide your requirements and we will confirm with the resort if it is available. Full dive gear rental starts at Php450 (approximately USD8.18) per day.

Is Nitrox available?–

Unfortunately Nitrox is not available. But don’t worry, I’ve dived this Romblon without having to use it as most of the dive sites are quite shallow and easy.

Do I need to get dive insurance?

While it’s a personal choice, I strongly recommend obtaining dive insurance for your peace of mind. Our remote diving location and multiple daily dives make it a wise precaution. Keep in mind that the nearest hyperbaric chamber is in Manila, a completely different island. In case of an emergency your insurance provider should be able to assist you on getting the help you need. You can explore coverage options from providers like DiveAssure or Divers Alert Network (DAN). Just be sure to thoroughly understand the policy details before making a decision.
